I’ve always LOVED a routine. It keeps me relaxed, focussed and calm, which is especially important before an exam to ensure for a good nights sleep. I feel that after surviving through GCSEs, A Levels and now my first year degree exams I have found a routine that works best for me, so I thought I’d share it with you.

The first thing I do when I start to wind down is to have a cup of tea (I take it with just a splash of milk). Sounds cliche, but I swear a cup of tea is the most soothing thing ever. Normally during this time I’ll have a scroll through my social media and the news to catch up on what’s been going on during the day.

Secondly, I go on to make dinner. Food has been one of the best things about my first year at university, I absolutely love cooking so have really relished in my meal planning and food creations. If you’re interested in a couple of posts about my fav recipes, do let me know! The night before an exam I always try to have something super nutritious to give my body some TLC.

After washing up and doing all that post dinner stuff, I’ll pack my exam bag for the next day. This just ensures that I’m not rushing the next morning so my journey to the exam-hall is stress-free!

I am such a pamper queen. Honestly, there is nothing I love more than a good bit of skincare. SO I totally go all out the night before an exam with a facemask and all the works to give my skin some love (I think it hates exams more than me). I always feel ten times better after my skins had a bit of a detox.

After all of this, I go into super lazy mode. I avoid looking at my notes before I go to sleep so that I’m not thinking of them during the night, and instead opt for a bit of Netflix and a herbal tea. If I’m hungry I’ll have a little snack too – at the moment I’m obsessed with popcorn as a low-calorie but yummy nibble. I find this super helpful to take my mind away from work and allow my body to fully relax.

Before I switch off the fairy lights I sort my outfit for the next day and put my notes underneath my pillow. I know that sounds nuts, but it’s become such a superstition for me. I think I once read in a book (was defo fiction) that sleeping with your notes under your pillow will magically make you know them all inside and out the next morning. I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember, so don’t have the heart to take it out of my routine now however crazy it sounds!

Finally I set my alarm (7:15 for a 9:30 exam start) and get to sleep!
